A national non-governmental and nonprofit public health organization dedicated to improving the health and nutritional status of women and children of Nepal through sustainable development changes is partner to BHAKARI project and seeks to recruit Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator.

Number of Position: 1

Location: based in Kathmandu

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct central and regional level trainings/workshops related to the nutrition and Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
  • Prepare Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and Annual Workplan for the nutrition component
  • Work closely with Knowledge Management and Learning (KML) Manager to identify the learning areas and coordinate learning studies, conduct data analysis and preliminary findings, debriefs and presentations
  • Interpret data generated through different internal monitoring mechanisms, Post Distribution Monitoring, rapid assessments and evaluation system and analyze results using appropriate statistical tools like SPSS, Stata etc. and prepare summary report
  • Update the Learning and Adaptation Tracker (LAT) every quarter, following up thematic leads and finalize with KML Manager and Deputy Chief of Party 
  • Annually update and support in finalizing BHAKARI M&E documents (e.g.- updating Performance Indicator Reference Sheet (PIRS), log frame, Indicator Performance Tracking Table (IPTT), etc.), and responding to Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance(BHA) comments
  • Support and involve extensively in developing quarterly and annual project reports.
  • Prepare activity reports and case studies related to the project
  • Work closely with BHAKARI/central technical/program team for planning, monitoring and evaluation of program activities
  • Carry out database management activities in close coordination with Management Information System (MIS) Officer
  • Develop and maintain information management tools/system and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Attend weekly MEL meeting, monthly BHAKARI all staff meetings and other ad-hoc meetings/de-briefs/catch-up-calls

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Master’s degree from any recognized university in nutrition, public health or statistics;
  • At least 4 years of experience in nutrition and health projects;
  • Experience in working with national provincial and local government line agencies;
  • Experience in working on information management at the central level, primarily in coordination with the federal government and other line agencies;
  • Knowledge of software like NVivo, Stata, SPSS etc. will be preferred.

National HIV Strategic Plan 2021-2026, Nepal

Overview

The National Centre for AIDS and STD Control (NCASC), Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal has released a new National HIV Strategic Plan (NHSP) 2021-2026. The strategy outlines a global vision, a global goal and a set of global targets, all of which are fully aligned with the vision, goal and targets of the multi-sectoral UNAIDS strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The NHSP 2021-2026 largely follows the NHSP 2016-2021, which prioritized key interventions to achieve the fast track targets. Significant improvement in the treatment cascade is still needed, and in order to keep the momentum and further accelerate the progress to achieve the goal of ending AIDS by 2030, a forward looking new strategic plan is needed.

Vision: Ending AIDS epidemic in Nepal by 2030

Mission: To provide HIV care continuum ensuring inclusive, equitable and accessible services

Goals

  • To prevent new HIV infections,
  • To improve HIV related health outcomes of PLHIV
  • To reduce HIV related inequalities among PLHIV and KPs.

Targets by 2026

  • Identify 95 % of the estimated PLHIV
  • Treat 95 % of people diagnosed with HIV
  • Attain viral load suppression for 95 % of PLHIV on ART
  • Reduce 90% of new HIV infections (base line as 2010)
  • Eliminate vertical transmission of HIV
  • Achieve case rate of congenital syphilis of ≤50 per 100 000 live births.

Priorities

  • Accelerating HIV prevention services among key populations
  • Expanding innovative and effective testing approaches with universal access to comprehensive treatment,
    care, support, VL testing and suppression services
  • Elimination of vertical transmission and syphilis
  • Scaling up of HIV-sensitive social protection services to key and vulnerable populations
  • Addressing human rights and gender in HIV response
  • Strengthening effective, inclusive and accountable HIV governance.

Strategic priorities

The NHSP has prioritized the following key critical areas for fast-track actions:

  • Scaling up HIV prevention interventions in key and vulnerable populations
  • Expanding quality assured HIV testing with access to comprehensive HIV treatment, care and support services, including viral load testing and adherence to and retention to treatment.
  • Elimination of mother-to-child transmission and congenital syphilis
  • Strengthening strategic information system for evidence-informed response against HIV epidemic
  • Addressing the critical enablers and development synergies in HIV programming
  • Strengthening RSSH including CSS
  • Addressing cross-cutting issues of stigma and discrimination, gender and human rights related barriers to access services
  • Strengthening local health systems for pandemic preparedness and response to ensure HIV services are not disrupted during the health emergencies such as COVID-19 or other disasters.
  • Enabling policy environment at all levels.

Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for a place in the following full-time postgraduate programme, with a focus on Implementation Research for the 2021-2022 academic year.

IMPLEMENTATION RESEARCH (IR) INITIATIVE IN NEPAL

Implementation Research (IR) Initiative in Nepal 

Funding for these full scholarships is from TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, based at the World Health Organization in Geneva (TDR Postgraduate training support). Only applicants from low- and middle-income countries of WHO South-East Asia and Western Pacific Regions are eligible.

The training will be focused on courses relevant to a career in implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty, including neglected tropical diseases, malaria, TB/HIV and COVID-19. Implementation research is a growing field that supports the identification of health system bottlenecks and approaches to address them, and is particularly useful in low- and middle- income countries where many health interventions do not reach those who need them the most. The goal of this scheme is to enhance postgraduate training capacity and boost the number of researchers in low- and middle-income countries.

A limited number of scholarships will be offered for the 2021/2022 academic year in the International Master Programme in Public Health, leading to an MPH degree (2 years duration). The programme is taught in English.

Recipients will be enrolled as postgraduate students, and their careers will be tracked through the TDR postgraduate alumni platform, IR Connect, which monitors the impact of the programme and provides networking and opportunities to increase visibility for students and alumni.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants should:

  • Be nationals of, and residents in, low- and middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank) of WHO South-East Asia region and West Pacific region.
  • Be under 35 years old for the Master programme.
  • Meet the University requirements for international postgraduate students
  • Meet the academic requirements:
    – A bachelor’s degree with a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.00 out of 4
    – AcEPT score of at least 268 or TOEFL score of at least 550 or IELTS score of at least 5.5
    – Desk evaluation on undergraduate academic documents
  • Consent to meet health requirements in line with regulations of the Indonesian government and UGM

THE SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE
The scholarship covers:

  • Return economy airfare between the home country of the student and Yogyakarta, Indonesia;
  • Tuition fees and a basic medical and accident insurance;
  • Support for research project/thesis expenses, including travel and sustenance during data collection in home country;
  • Indonesian language course to improve integration in the university’s environment; and
  • Monthly stipend to cover living expenses equivalent to local living cost.

Position: Portfolio Advisor- Health & Nutrition (H&N)

Location: based in Lalitpur, National Office

Key Responsibilities:

The Programs Portfolio Advisor- Health & Nutrition is accountable to lead the design and write up of technically sound new (Food Security and Livelihood) programs and concepts/proposals; to develop coherent Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) portfolio framework; to provide strategic quality oversight on (H&N) programs portfolio; and to lead sector programs’ external engagement with government, donors, peer local/INGOs and other stakeholders (research, university, think-thank, professional associations, etc) in order to promote the evidence of World Vision’s child-focused (H&N) programs impact; to engage in (H&N) policy formulation or implementation, and to create new funding opportunities for (H&N) programs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: At least 5 years field experience in Health & Nutrition programming or the equivalent in the headquarters of a major NGO (5-10 years preferred) with a Master’s degree or equivalent in Health & Nutrition or related field. Good writing and analytical skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate technical language to non-specialists with clarity. At least 3 years of team leadership experience and advanced understanding of project cycle and MEAL. Experience in Health & Nutrition proposals development. Good Nepali and English, both in writing and speaking.

Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) Surveillance Officer

Specification

FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as short-term and long-term consultants for COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). The period for this assignment is from February to August 2022 with possibility of extension. These positions are subject to approval of COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan and availability of funding. 

In addition to the specific qualifications and requirements outlined below in each position, prospective candidates in all positions should have ability to perform multiple tasks, and to work under pressure with additional time and efforts in emergency/crisis situation independently and proactively.

  • Support in National AEFI Investigation Committee to prepare for COVID-19 vaccine AEFI. 
  • Support in preparing resource materials and planning of training on vaccine safety and monitoring at national and sub-national level
  • Assure competent and trained staff to perform vigilance activities 
  • Provision of require manufacturers to implement risk management plans and collect and report COVID-19 vaccine safety data to the NRA.

Position: Cold Chain Officer

Specification

FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as short-term and long-term consultants for COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). The period for this assignment is from February to August 2022 with possibility of extension. These positions are subject to approval of COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan and availability of funding. 

In addition to the specific qualifications and requirements outlined below in each position, prospective candidates in all positions should have ability to perform multiple tasks, and to work under pressure with additional time and efforts in emergency/crisis situation independently and proactively.

  • Bachelor’s in pharmacy
  • Experience in cold chain procedures and supply chain management

Job Description

  • Plan Cold Chain activities for efficient and optimal service delivery
  • Engage in conducting and improvement of cold chain and supply chain for COVID-19 vaccines, AD syringe and other logistics.
  • Provide training to health care workers (HCW) and support staff working in cold room
  • Support to update cold chain related logistics, equipment, and other related supplies.

  • Experience in planning, coordination and managing training, workshops and events

FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as short-term and long-term consultants for COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). In addition to the specific qualifications and requirements outlined below in each position, prospective candidates in all positions should have ability to perform multiple tasks, and to work under pressure with additional time and efforts in emergency/crisis situation independently and proactively.

  • Coordinate with health office and local government authorities to identify the gaps and needs for COVID-19 response including telehealth, home-based care, vaccination, case investigation and contact tracing (CICT)
  • Support in vaccination camps, disseminate COVID-19 vaccine related messages for demand generation and addressing vaccine-related mis-and dis-information and vaccine hesitancy through online and offline platforms.
  • Coordinate, support, supervise and monitor training and orientation on vaccine, home-based care and CICT.
  • Coordinate and provide operational and management support for COVID-19 vaccination sites as well as surveillance, recording and reporting of COVID-19 testing and vaccination
  • Coordinate and support for mobilization of volunteers for COVID-19 vaccination sites management and operations.
  • Support to strengthen CICT, point of entry (PoE) sites, surveillance, monitoring, recording and reporting.

  • Experience on COVID-19 related response program

Position: Vaccination Support Officer

Specification

FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as short-term and long-term consultants for COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). The period for this assignment is from February to August 2022 with possibility of extension.   • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Public Health, or Health Sciences or Pharmacy, or MBBS a related technical field
  • Minimum two years of progressively responsible professional work experience in vaccination, supply, logistics and cold chain management.
  • Specialized training in immunization and supply chain.
  • Familiar with DHIS2 and eLMIS software and platform.

Job Description

  • Collect data on vaccine availability, accessibility and utilization as well as COVID-19 vaccine issues at the district and municipality level.
  • Collect information on vaccine and related logistics data at the district and municipality level.
  • Identification of COVID-19 vaccination data gaps through District Health Information System (DHIS2)/electronic Logistic Management Information System (eLMIS).
  • Based on the daily/consolidated data identify ways forward/ recommendation for improving coverage (DHIS2) as well as logistic (eLMIS) system.
  • Tracking of coverage and stock related data for further improvement of data quality.
  • Coordinate with respective divisions/sections [Management Division (MD), integrated Health Management Information System (iHMIS) and Logistic Management sections and Family Welfare Division (FWD)] to share information on data gaps and way forward in the monthly meeting.
  • Document the COVID-19 vaccination coverage reports.
