World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. World Sight Day 2020 is on 8 October 2020. World Sight Day was initiated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and it became an official IAPB event in the year 2000.

World Sight Day is a common platform for organisations to encourage governments, corporations, institutions and individuals to actively support universal access to eye health.

Theme 2020

The theme for World Sight Day is Hope In Sight.

The recent World Health Assembly resolution for eye health, marks the next major milestone for global eye health. With political commitment to take action to make eye care an integral part of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and to implement ‘integrated people-centred eye care’ there is #HopeInSight.

This World Sight Day, let’s find the solutions to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to sight. Let’s pledge to spread the message of #HopeInSight.
