The National Health Training Centre (NHTC) has outlined the strategic direction for Nepal’s health workforce capacity development under the newly drafted National Health Training Strategic Plan. Aligned with federal governance structures, the strategy focuses on updating training frameworks to address changing disease burdens, support continuous professional development, and meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) commitments by 2030.

Strategic Framework Overview:

• Vision: A competent and accountable healthcare workforce dedicated to delivering quality health services.
• Mission: Ensure the availability of skilled, accountable, and motivated healthcare workers through an effective national health training system.
• Goal: Enhance healthcare workers’ knowledge, skills, and competencies to drive high-quality health service delivery nationwide.

Key Aims & Strategic Objectives:

• Curriculum Modernization: Develop and continuously refine training curricula and learning materials based on systematic, evidence-based Training Needs Assessments (TNAs).
• Infrastructure & Capacity Enhancement: Strengthen physical and operational capabilities across federal and provincial training centres and designated clinical sites.
• Quality Assurance & Research: Institutionalize training quality control, monitoring, site accreditation, and operational research to measure training impact.
• Information Systems: Modernize and scale the Training Information Management System (TIMS) for streamlined tracking, roster management, and evaluation.
