Overview

The SSPH+ Lugano Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics, and Management, based in Ticino Switzerland since 1991, aims to reduce the gap between public health theory and practice. It places health, disease, and health systems thinking under one common framework of coherent concepts and practical implications. The focus on public health policy, economics, management, and communication combined with the diversity of students and facilitators provide for a rich learning environment for 30+ years so far. Public health professionals, researchers, and graduate students to learn together through mutual exchange in a stimulating environment.

The Programme is jointly organized by the Swiss School of Public Health, the IPH and ICPP at USI, DEASS at SUPSI, and Swiss TPH.

Aims

The Programme aims to reduce the gap between public health theory and practice. The courses are intended for professionals and managers of health administrations, hospitals and other services and facilities within the health sector, policy-makers and students. We offer an opportunity to meet new colleagues and peers, to exchange knowledge, build networks and share insights, all for the purpose of mutual learning for change.

Summer School Programme 2023

32nd edition takes place 21-26 August. Pre-courses and courses are a mix of on-site, online and hybrid learning environments.

  • Measuring health spending and results to improve health sector performance and meet strategic objectives and inform policy reforms
  • Making sense of the evidence to inform programmes, policies, and practice
  • Adaptive Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning for Public Health: Embracing complexity to make measurements matter
