Why health promotion matters in Nepal
Health promotion is an essential component of improving population health and achieving universal health coverage.
Nepal continues to face challenges related to non-communicable diseases, health literacy, environmental health, climate change, mental health, and equitable access to health information and services.
Addressing these challenges requires approaches that extend beyond healthcare facilities and include communities, schools, workplaces, local governments, educational institutions, and other sectors.
Digital health technologies can support health education, communication, community engagement, and access to health information. However, their effectiveness depends on appropriate implementation, accessibility, digital literacy, institutional capacity, and attention to equity.
The National Health Promotion Conference 2026 will provide an opportunity to explore these issues and share practical approaches that can contribute to healthier communities and stronger health promotion systems in Nepal.
