Asian Conference on Diarrhoeal Disease and Nutrition (ASCODD)
The 17th Asian Conference on Diarrhoeal Disease and Nutrition (ASCODD) 2024, hosted by Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Nepal (OUCRU Nepal) is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu, Nepal from 8th to 10th December 2024. This year’s conference theme is “Emerging Enteric Infections and Impact of Climate Change.”
ASCODD is an international interdisciplinary forum where researchers, practitioners, academics, and experts present and discuss trends, challenges, techniques, applications, and innovative solutions in diarrhea and nutrition. The three-day conference aims to particularly address issues around the impact of climate change on enteric infections and intends to seek innovative solutions through scientific research and healthcare delivery in the field of diarrhea and nutrition in Asia by bringing national and international experts to a common platform. With an expected 300-350 national and international participants, the 17th ASCODD-2024 will consist of plenary sessions where distinguished invited speakers will deliver keynote speeches followed by panel discussions. Also, selected participants will have opportunities to present their research papers and posters on specific conference themes.

- share insights on the impact of changing climatic patterns on vector habitats and disease seasonality.
- showcase pioneering research in the field of vaccines, trials, and historical triumphs.
- discuss the importance of nutrition in building resilient immunity and preventing infectious diseases.
- delve into advances in the field of AI and data analytics for exploring preventive strategies.
- identify innovative solutions for prevention and treatment.
Our comprehensive program constitutes of key sub-themes focusing on the issues and development on:1. Impact of altered climate on dynamics of enteric and other infectious diseases:
- Understanding how changes in ecological niches influence epidemiology of enteric infections.
- Investigating shifts in geographic distribution of infectious diseases.
2. Synergizing interventional strategies to control enteric and other infectious diseases and associated antimicrobial resistance:
- Exploring epidemiology of enteric infections.
- Addressing childhood diarrhoea with focus on nutritional strategies.
- Exploring advance interventions by harnessing power of vaccines and artificial intelligence.
- Underscoring importance of disease surveillance, systematic data analysis, and data modeling to predict future events enabling improved management.
3. Addressing challenges, way forward:
- Ethical consideration.
- Addressing challenges around treatment and diagnostics.
- Future directions.
At the end of day 3, there will be a specialized session on genomics for interested participants. It will be delivered by a world-renowned specialized group of genomics experts. The symposium will offer an unparalleled opportunity for participants to delve into the latest advancements and discoveries in the field of genomics around enteric and infectious diseases.
