Job Description

Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

LI-BIRD is implementing a project entitled “Empowered communities and CSOs for inclusive nutrition governance in the hilly and mountain regions of Western Nepal” funded by EU from January 2025 to June 2028. The project aims to strengthen sustainable and inclusive nutrition governance through an effective implementation of the Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan III. Specifically, the project will support local governments for strengthening local food systems and equitable access to high-quality nutrition services in 10 municipalities of Achham and Bajura districts of Sudurpaschim Province.

LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions:

Position: District Coordinator (Level 8) – 1, (to be based at LI-BIRD Site Office, Bajura)

Job Summary: Reporting to the Team Leader, District Coordinator (DC) will be responsible for the coordination with Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s), local and district level governments to implement the project activities. DC’S key duties include taking lead in capacity building, documentation, advocacy, producing a range of knowledge products and communication materials targeted to diverse audiences, and networking with stakeholders. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the project, coordination with local stakeholders, and coordinating the capacity building activities targeted to CSOs and local governments.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in nutrition, Public Health or relevant subject from recognized university with at least 3 years’ experience in project implementation, policy advocacy and documentation in the field of public health and nutrition.
