Job Description

KOSHISH, National Mental Health Self-Help Organization, established in 2008, is breaking the silence and amplifying voices of persons with mental health condition and psychosocial disability for inclusion of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within and beyond the health system. KOSHISH promotes self-advocacy in the spirit of “NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US”.

We are looking for the following positions:

Position: Program Manager

KOSHISH is seeking an energetic, passionate development professional for the post of Program Manager with proven experience of working at the Managerial level. The Program Manager shall be responsible for the effective and quality implementation of existing projects of KOSHISH in collaboration with Admin/Human resource/Finance and MEAL. The manager will also be responsible for prioritizing the Organizational Development. The manager will need to travel to the project locations of KOSHISH at least 40% of time and the remaining time will be based in central office.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective Management

  • Ensure that all staff under the supervision have a clear understanding of their individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct annual performance planning, mid-year review and end year appraisal of staff under supervision in the Performance Planning and Appraisal Report (PPAR).
  • Support and mentor project staff in monthly planning and target-oriented reporting.
  • Ensure cost efficiency and value for money in all organizational expenditures.

Technical Support and Capacity Building

  • Guide, mentor, and supervise project coordinators and project officers to ensure high-quality project implementation and effectiveness.
  • Ensure staff capacity development needs and development plan are identified and reflected in the staff’s performance plans and timely implemented.
  • Provide technical guidance on the development of communication and behavior change materials, including mass media communication.
  • Lead the team in developing training manuals and guidelines as per organizational needs.

Project Development and Coordination

  • Lead the planning and implementation of existing projects, including developing plans and conducting periodic monitoring and evaluations.
  • Review and ensure the quality control of all the project reports before submission
  • Lead program development in close collaboration with the fundraising team.
  • Identify potential funding partners and consortium partners to expand project funding
  • Develop project proposals, briefing notes and background documents as required.

Organizational Development and Advocacy

  • Implement, and harmonize the organizational strategy and Theory of Change (TOC) across KOSHISH.
  • Develop, amend, and implement policies and guidelines to facilitate smooth operations in collaboration with the team.
  • Represent the organization at national and international forums to promote its mission and visibility.
  • Ensure organizational visibility through promotional activities and media relation.

QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

  • Master’s degree in social work, international relations, law, or any other related field
  • Proven Experience at the Senior officer level of a minimum of 7 years or Managerial level of a Minimum of 3 years. Candidate who has background in Mental Health is preferred
  • Excellent understanding of project management cycle including proposal development, implementation, and monitoring
  • Good understanding of human rights-based approach, and legal framework of Nepal and familiarity with core International Human Rights Treaties ratified by Nepal
  • Good understanding and/or experience of working in inclusion, the life transformation of vulnerable communities
  • Willingness to have frequent field visits as per the need (40% in the field and 60% at the central level)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation & public relation skills in both English and Nepali and leadership skills
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure independently as well as in a team to bring tangible results
  • Empathetic, Energetic with a receptive learning attitude.
