Job Description

The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is a UK based international non-government organization active in 34 countries; started its work in Nepal from 1957 with establishment of Anandaban Hospital in Lele, the sourthern part of Lalitpur. However, from 2005 TLM Nepal has been working as independent NGO in partnership with TLM international and the Government of Nepal to provide specialist tertiary care and technical support for leprosy control programs. It also undertakes internationally recognized research into leprosy and implements disability inclusive community development programs through its own activities and strategic partnership.

Being one of the largest NGOs in the country working in the field of leprosy, TLM Nepal mainly focuses in working with and for people affected by leprosy. Its development interventions focuses in the areas of health, capacity building, education, sustainable livelihoods, community development, advocacy and research working towards equity and inclusion of people affected by leprosy and disability in the development process.

Overall Purpose of the job: 

The Fundraising Manager will have responsibility for developing and leading TLM Nepal’s fundraising strategy to significantly increase its income. S/he will cultivate and strengthen relationships with institutional donors, foundations, corporations, I/NGO partners, and other stakeholders, alongside developing quality proposals that align to TLM Nepal’s strategy. S/he will work in close collaboration with the TLM Nepal’s Head of Programs & Learning, Director of Research and other TLM Global Fellowship fundraisers.

Qualification

Education Level: Graduate (Masters) with More than or equal to 5 years

Duty station: Kathmandu

Roles & Responsibilities:

Leading and developing TLM Nepal’s fundraising strategy and identifying funding opportunities (20%)

  • Conceptualize and develop an institutional fundraising strategy for TLM Nepal.
  • Coordinate and lead a market study, donor mapping, and country office plan to ensure a strong fundraising pipeline.
  • Gather relevant and timely intelligence information necessary for grant acquisition; identify grant opportunities and relevant institutional guidance materials to share with relevant departments
  • Lead the management of the pipeline and knowledge database to ensure information is shared among field program and other concerned staff, to capture new opportunities, and to track the ongoing fundraising.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge management system for tracking fundraising opportunities. 
  • Identify potential donors nationally and internationally and conduct research on the prospective donors (through the internet, newspapers, magazines, networking, etc.)

Developing and strengthening relationships with donors (20%)

  • Network and collaborate with Government Institutions, Donor agencies, I/NGOs, Private (individual) donors, and Corporates with funding perspective, nationally and internationally – including making face-to-face visits.
  • Establish and cultivate close relationships with government/corporates/institutions responding to their requests, and updating them about the work of the organization.
  • Maintain partnerships with local government bodies to acquire possible funds, INGOs to explore possible consortiums, OPDs, and CSOs to explore the possibility of partnership. 
  • Review and negotiate grant agreements and brief field staff so they are aware of how to ensure donor compliance.
  • Communicate with donors and ensure timely requests for adjustments to donor contracts, when necessary.  
  • Ensure timely, high-quality reporting by the programs team.

Program design and writing funding proposals (40%)

  • Develop quality concept notes and tailored funding proposals, liaising with the program, research, and finance departments to develop detailed project proposals & budgets, for submission to institutional/corporate/government funding agencies. 
  • Manage application processes.

Engage with the wider TLM Global Fellowship to maximize funding, including multi-country funding opportunities (20%)

  • Be the key point of contact for Institutional Fundraising for TLM Nepal.
  • Work closely with TLM’s institutional fundraising team to support new program design for IF opportunities for Nepal and engage in the design of multi-country funding opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and events to promote the organization and raise funds to promote the work of TLMN through presentations, the writing of PR materials, advertisements, and media campaigns.
  • Provide monthly updates to the committee regarding fundraising duties and events.
