Job Description

Nepal-German bilateral programme “Support to the Health Sector Strategy II (S2HSS-II)” and “Support for Nepal’s National Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Strategy in the Health Sector (S2GESI)”, led by the Federal Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and supported by GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is providing technical assistance closely aligned with the Nepal Health Sector Strategic Plans 2023 to 2030. The overall goal is improve the institutional capacities of state actors in the health system, in particular the Ministry of Health and Population, the Health Insurance Board and municipal health authorities in Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces to implement the Nepal Health Sector Strategic Plan (2023 -2030) for the Evidence based Health Management and relevant output of Support to the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion S2GESI adopting a multi-level and multi-sectoral approach.

Project: Support to the Health Sector Strategy (S2HSS – II ) & Support for Nepal’s National Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Strategy in the Health Sector (S2GESI)
Position: Trainee

Working location: Kathmandu
Reports to: Programme Manager

Responsibilities:

Programme Planning and Coordination:

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating programme activities, meetings, workshops, and field missions
  • Support coordination with implementing partners, consultants, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up action points Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:
  • Assist in preparation of progress reports, and presentations.
  • Assist in maintaining programme databases, indicators, and activity trackers.
  • Support documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories

Technical Support:

  • Conduct desk reviews, background research, and data compilation on health-related topics.
  • Support analysis of programme data related to health systems strengthening and project indicators.
  • Assist in preparation of concept notes, briefing notes, and technical summaries

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in preparation of event organization, and logistical arrangements.
  • Coordinate with service unit of GIZ for event organization and logistical arrangement.
  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of programme documents in line with GIZ procedures in coordination with component leads.
  • Assist in drafting TOR, taking minutes of important meetings, documentation of project activities.

Communication and Knowledge Management:

  • Support internal and external communication, including drafting emails, summaries, and presentations
  • Assist in knowledge management, documentation, and reporting.
  • Support in coordination with communication teams for visibility and knowledge products

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or final year) or Master’s degree (ongoing or completed) in Public Health, Health Sciences, Development Studies, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Prior internship, research, or volunteer experience in health or development projects is an asset
  • Familiarity with Nepal’s health system and development partners is desirable

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, writing, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills in English and Nepali (both written and spoken)
  • Ability to work in team and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to learn GIZ procedures and programme management processes
