SALARY: GBP 30,056 (plus a per diem allowance of GBP 1,413.42 per month)
FTC: 6 months fixed contract

The British Red Cross have an exciting new opportunity for a PMEAL (Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) Coordinator to join our Nepal country team based in Kathmandu. This is an attractive 6 month opportunity best suited to an individual with strong technical expertise in the design and rollout of PMEAL systems and strategies and significant field experience interested in shaping the PMEAL approach across a diverse portfolio of humanitarian and development programming.The British Red Cross has been partnered with the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) for 12 years and has been present in Nepal since 2012, providing support in the following areas:

  • an Integrated Disaster Resilience Programme (IDRP) in Jhapa district (which began in January 2015 and completes in December 2018)
  • an Earthquake Recovery Programme in the 3 districts of Kathmandu Valley (completing in April 2019)- a 5 year Urban DRR Programme (SURE) in 5 districts of Nepal (started in September 2016)
  • a Disaster Management (DM) consortia led by NRCS and Danish RC and funded by DIPECHO (finishing in 2016)
  • strategic National Society development in areas such as PMEAL, community engagement and accountability, cash-based programming, logistics capacity building, and programme management

The overarching purpose of the PMEAL Coordinator role is to lead, manage, facilitate and enable the British Red Cross and Nepal Red Cross Society country management teams to deliver quality, effective and accountable programmes, identify synergies across programmes, coordinate and partner with other Red Cross and external agency-led initiatives in the country, and document and share learning. Alongside the British Red Cross Country Manager, this role supports coherence, collaboration, capacity building, learning and communication at all levels.

The PMEAL Coordinator will lead and manage a Nepal-based team consisting of a Community Engagement and Accountability Officer and a Data Analyst/Reporting Officer, whilst working effectively across a variety of supported programmes. Additionally, the role will accompany and support the efforts of Nepal Red Cross to develop and strengthen their PMEAL initiatives and strategies.

The successful candidate will have;

  • significant experience in supporting diverse programme teams to design and roll out coherent and practical PMEAL systems
  • experience in managing evaluations and consultancies, designing the collection/analysis/management of data and driving the documentation and uptake of learning and evidence
  • capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships across programmes and with partners inside and outside the Red Cross Movement
